The West Delaware Community School District held a full-scale active intruder exercise on Tuesday at West Delaware school facilities. According to a news release from Delaware County Emergency Management, the training exercise was in partnership with local law enforcement, fire, EMS, and emergency management agencies. The exercise was conducted to evaluate and strengthen coordinated emergency response procedures. The exercise tested response capabilities including evacuation, threat neutralization, triage and transport, reunification, operational coordination, and emergency communications. Simulated gunfire and volunteer role players portraying victims with mock injuries were incorporated to create a realistic training environment. There were 114 participants across 16 agencies.
