A Waterloo man has been arrested in connection to a scam and robbery that occurred in rural Linn County. A press release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office states that on December 22nd, a victim reported a robbery that took place in rural Linn County. The victim was targeted using a scam over text message and phone claiming that his bank accounts had been compromised. The scammer convinced the victim to turn over his banking cards and later cash to an agent posing as an investigator who would arrive at his residence. The suspect appeared at the victim’s residence on December 22nd, and forcefully stole $10,000 in cash from the victim, injuring them in the process. During an investigation, a suspect vehicle as described by the victim traveling on camera through Marion. The registered owner of that vehicle had a son matching the description of the robbery suspect. A search warrant was executed in January of 2026 in Waverly and Waterloo, where additional evidence was seized. Officers arrested 18-year-old Quenden Hart Wednesday on charges of 2nd degree robery, 1st degree theft and fraudulent use of credit cards. Hart is being held in the Linn County Jail without bond, awaiting his initial court appearance.
