Unemployment rates rose in local counties in January. Acording to Iowa Workforce Development Dubuque County’s unemployment rate was 4.1% in January, up from 3.2% in December and up from the 3.9% recorded in January 2024. Clayton County’s unemployment rate was 5.9% in January, up from 3.9% in December and unchanged from the 5.9% recorded in January 2024. Delaware County’s rate was 4.4% in January, up from 2.7% in December and 3.8% in January 2024. Jackson County’s rate was 5.2% in January, up from 3.5% in December and up from 5% in January 2024. Iowa’s statewide unemployment rate was 3.3% in January, up slightly from 3.2% in December and up from the 2.8% reported in January 2024.
