The Iowa High School Track & Field season concluded Saturday with the final day of the state meet. Among the records that were set at this year’s meet, Western Dubuque junior Quentin Nauman set and all-time Iowa record in the 800 and 1,600 Meter races. Nauman became the first prep to break 1:50 in the 800 with a time of 1:49.41, and became the first Iowa prep to run a sub-4:00 in the 1,600 with a time of 3:59.60. The Bobcat boys Distance Medley Relay team of Drew Burds, Ben Wernimont, Symon McDermott and Nauman set a 3A state meet record with a time of 3:24.52.

The boys high school state golf tournaments begin today. Class 3A is being played at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls, the 2A tournament is at Gates Park, and 1A plays at South Hills, both in Waterloo. Locally, Beckman Catholic sophomore Jake Wegman is among the individual qualifiers in class 2A, and West Delaware is one of the 12 teams that will compete for the 3A title. Opening tee times at all three sites are scheduled for 10:30 am.

The boys high school soccer playoffs resume tonight. In class 1A Substate 4, Beckman Catholic hosts Marquette Catholic at 7 pm. The winner will play Regina Catholic or Prince of Peace in the substate final on Thursday. In 1A Substate 3, Anamosa plays Tipton at 7 pm, with the winner advancing to face North Fayette Valley or Clayton Ridge in the substate final. In 3A boys soccer, Western Dubuque plays at Marion with a 7 pm start. That winner will play Cedar Rapids Washington or Waterloo East in the substate 3 final this Thursday.

High school softball begins this afternoon on KDST with the Western Dubuque @ Dubuque Senior doubleheader. Game 1 begins at 4. Here are other local varsity softball and baseball games scheduled for today:

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will be out at least two weeks with a left quad strain, the team announced Monday. Further updates will be provided following reevaluation. Coach Stephanie White said that she wasn't sure when the injury happened, but that Clark reported pain in her leg after the team's loss to New York on Saturday. Clark subsequently underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with the strain, although White said she did not know its grade. Clark is averaging 19 points and a league-best 9.3 assists through 4 games.
