The men’s and women’s NCAA tournament brackets were revealed on Sunday. Auburn is the #1 overall seed in the men’s bracket, with Duke, Houston and Florida being the other top seeds. Iowa State is the #3 seed in the South and will face Lipscomb at 12:30 pm on Friday, while Drake is the 11th seed in the West bracket and plays Missouri at 6:35 pm this Thursday. The men’s tournament begins with First Four games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Here is that schedule;
Tuesday –
South Region #16 Alabama State vs. #16 St. Francis 5:40 pm
South Region #11 San Diego State vs. #11 North Carolina 8:10 pm
Wednesday –
East Region #16 American vs. #16 Mount St. Marys 5:40 pm
Midwest Region #11 Texas vs. #11 Xavier 8:10 pm
UCLA is the #1 overall seed for the women’s NCAA basketball tournament. The other top seeds are South Carolina, Texas and USC. Iowa, which is the 6th seed in the Spokane Regional, will play Murray State this Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma. Iowa State will face Princeton in a First Four game on Wednesday in South Bend to determine the #11 seed for one of the Birmingham Regionals. The other First Four games are UC San Diego vs. Southern, Columbia vs. Washington, and High Point vs. William & Mary.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced a partnership with Iowa PBS to broadcast championships in football, wrestling and basketball starting this fall. Through a multi-year initial agreement, the broadcasts for those sports will be available statewide on PBS, and stream for free through both the PBS and athletic association sites. The 2025-26 championship dates include:
Football: November 20-21, 2025
Wrestling: February 21, 2026
Basketball: March 13, 2026
While the high school track & field season is already underway with indoor meets, practices begin today for soccer, tennis and golf.
