Boys 3,200 Meter – Quentin Nauman (Western Dubuque) – 1st place with a time of 8:52.45, setting the new Drake Relays High School Record

Boys Shot Put – Garrett Kluesner (Western Dubuque) – 21st place 47’ 10 ¾” (1st place – Landon Prince of Clear Creek-Amana 61’ 10 ¾”)

Today’s high school events begin at 8:35 am with the prelims of the girls 100 Meter Hurdles

The new girls high soccer rankings were released on Thursday, with the top ranked teams maintaining their spots – Denver in 1A, Waverly-Shell Rock in 2A, and Waukee Northwest in class 3A. Beckman Catholic is 13th again this week in 1A, and Independence is ranked 7th again in 2A girls soccer.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Board of Directors has approved the implementation of a girls wrestling state dual tournament beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The tentative date for the first dual state qualifying meet is January 18, 2027, with the state dual tournament on January 22nd. The number of classes and location for the tournament will be determined at a later date.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft was held last night in Green Bay. Tennessee selected Miami QB Cam Ward with the top pick. Jacksonville traded with Cleveland to obtain the 2nd pick, taking Colorado’s Travis Hunter. The Giants took Penn State edge Abdul Carter third, New England selected LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell at #4, then Cleveland wrapped up the top 5 by taking Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham. Chicago took Michigan TE Colston Loveland at #10, Green Bay selected Texas wide out Matthew Golden with pick #23, Minnesota took Ohio State guard Donovan Jackson at 24, and Kansas City closed out the first round by selecting Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons. Rounds 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft are tonight starting at 6 pm.
