Sentencing has been pushed back for a man found guilty of human trafficking a Dubuque teen. Jarod Anderson is convicted of human trafficking a 17-year-old girl from Dubuque and was supposed to hear his sentencing Tuesday afternoon in Linn County court. This would've been the first time a defendant got sentenced to life in prison without parole after trafficking a minor. However, the sentencing was postponed after a closed session where the defendant disclosed there was a breakdown in communication between him and his council. The judge explained that there are still some matters to deal with in this case. This has resulted in the withdrawal of Anderson’s current council, and there will be a new council appointed. The trial will proceed after these changes. Anderson was found guilty in February for his role in setting up sex acts in Cedar Rapids with the teenager and strangers for money in July, 2024. He worked alongside Tana Torres, who was also involved in the prostitution. She took a plea deal of lesser charges after testifying against him during trial.
