One person was found dead after a skid loader caught on fire at a Buchanan County farm Wednesday. At about 9:15 a.m., the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a skid loader on fire in the 2900 block of York Avenue. Officials did not locate anyone near the skid loader or the brush pile when they arrived. However, after extinguishing the fire, a deceased person was found under part of the skid loader. The person’s remains have been transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office to have their identity confirmed. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
