An Ohio man was arrested on an active warrant after a traffic stop in Clayton County recently. A news release from the Clayton County Sheriff's office states that at about 11:30 PM Monday, July 28, a Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling over 20 miles per hour over the speed limit on Highway 52 near 260th Street. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Brandon Thompson of Garfield Heights, Ohio. During the investigation, deputies learned Thompson's Ohio driver's license was suspended and that he was wanted on a nationwide extraditable warrant from Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for a probation violation. Thompson indicated he was aware of the warrant and acknowledged he was essentially running from Ohio. During the traffic stop, deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected THC and drug paraphernalia. Thompson was charged in Iowa with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving While License Suspended. Thompson is currently being held in the Clayton County Jail pending extradition to Ohio.
