A Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police officer was hurt after being dragged by a car during a traffic stop. According to KCRG, the officer was directing traffic at 1st Avenue and 3rd. Street SE due to a blocked railroad crossing Wednesday. The officer tried to stop a car that was driving erratically in the area around 3:30 p.m. The driver stopped, but when the officer approached they sped away. In the process, the car ended up dragging the officer a short distance, causing minor injuries. The officer was assessed by EMS and released. The car was located and stopped shortly after. The Linn County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident and the driver received multiple citations. No additional information has been released.
