Jackson County Officials to Hold Session on Proposed Data Center Ordinance

Jackson County officials will meet to discuss a proposed data center ordinance at a meeting next week. According to a news release from Jackson County’s zoning department, county officials will hold a public work session on proposed data center regulations at 7 p.m. Monday, June 15. The meeting will take place in the community room at the Jackson County Courthouse in Maquoketa. The release states the proposed ordinance is meant to establish a local review process for data centers and “address potential land use, infrastructure, utility, water, traffic, noise, public safety, compatibility and natural resource impacts.” The purpose of the meeting is for the Jackson County Zoning Commission and Jackson County Board of Supervisors to review the proposed regulations and hear public input before the Zoning Commission comes to a formal recommendation. No final action will be taken at the work session.
