Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host an on-farm dairy processing forum in Dyersville. According to a news release, the one-day program is designed for dairy producers considering value-added processing as a way to diversify their operations. The forum will be held October 20 at O So Good Winery in Dyersville, beginning at 10 AM. The forum will address questions producers face when considering on-farm processing, such as cost, what the market will bear and what regulations apply, according to the release. Brian Tapp, vice president of value-added agriculture with Iowa Area Development Group, will give an overview of funding resources for dairy processing. The program also features speakers from ISU and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Panel discussions will allow participants to interact with the expert speakers. The day will conclude with wine and cheese tasting. Those interested in attending are asked to register online by October 15. The program is offered at no cost due to funding from North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education. Attendees who participate in wine tasting will cover the cost of their own wine.
