Impaired Marion Man Facing Several Charges after Injuring Child Passenger

An impaired Marion man faces several charges after he injured a child passenger when he drove into a ditch near Manchester. According to court documents, authorities stopped 33-year-old Matthew Point of Marion for driving erratically and traveling 97 mph on U.S. 20 near Manchester around 9:15 pm April 27th. During the traffic stop, a passenger in the vehicle under the age of 6 told authorities that he was injured after the vehicle entered a ditch. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Point was arrested on charges of child endangerment with injury, possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, operating while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding.
