The Iowa Department of Transportation is planning to move forward with a construction project along Springville Road and Highway 151. Drivers could see an interchange with on and off ramps at the location as early as 2029. The Iowa DOT first has to acquire property around the potential interchange. IDOT District Transportation Manager Sam Shea says it could make a big difference in safety among drivers by “separating” crashes in this area. The difference in safety is that it separates those crashes from t-bones and head-on collisions which are the most dangerous crashes. Shea says those accidents wouldn't happen with the new interchange in place. The project is estimated to cost around $19 million and will be paid for through a combination of state and federal funding.
