Dubuque County Supervisors Approve Moratorium on Data Center Development

Dubuque County Supervisors have voted to approve a moratorium on potential data center development for one year. During the special meeting Tuesday, Supervisors Ann McDonough and Harley Pothoff voted in favor of a 12-month moratorium on the application and approval of any data center development. Supervisor Wayne Kenniker was opposed. A four-month moratorium was drafted prior to the meeting. Ann McDonough made a motion to enact a one-year moratorium. Officials say the purpose of the moratorium is to give the county time to develop an ordinance regulating data centers. The meeting followed a recommendation from the county’s Zoning Commission that the county enact a moratorium.
