Drowning Victims from Saturday Boating Accident Identified

The two men who drowned as a result of a boating collision with a submerged object on the Mississippi river Saturday have been identified. A news release from the Iowa DNR says 62-year-old Wayne Ameskamp, of Dyersville, and 61-year-old Michael Donahue of Bellevue. drown after they were thrown from their 16-foot fishing boat, when it struck an under water object in Molo Slough in Pool 12 of the river. A third passenger in the boat, 62-year-old Sharon Ameskamp of Dyersville, was also thrown from the craft. She was able to swim to the east shore of the slough, where she was rescued by passing boaters. The incident remains under investigation.
