The Delaware County Court has dropped charges against the former mayor and city clerk of Delhi. KCRG reports the court dropped all of the charges because the state ran out of time to pursue the charges. Lori Tucker, former clerk, was charged with first- and second-degree theft, and tampering with records. Gregory Preussner, former mayor, was charged with aiding and abetting the first-degree theft and impersonating a public official. Tucker’s charges were dropped in June, and Preussner’s charges were dropped last month. Iowa law says that the statute of limitations for a criminal offense is three years from when the alleged crime took place, unless there is a valid extension in place. According to court record, the alleged crimes last took place in 2022, and charges weren’t filed until November of 2025.
