The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said it appears that the two people found dead at a Springville home in November died by murder-suicide. First responders were called to the 700 block of Wild Pine Court in Springville at around 3:50 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2024 after two people were found dead there. The two people were identified as 69-year-old Robert Richmond Jr. and 67-year-old Janice Richmond, both of Springville. In an update on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said it appears that Janice Richmond was shot and killed by Robert Richmond, who later took his own life. Investigators said there is no known motive, and no criminal charges are anticipated.
