The Dubuque Audobon January program “Improving the River Environment” will take place on Thursday, January 9th from 7-8pm at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center, located at 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd. in Dubuque. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Peosta Elementary is looking for gently used snow pants for kids ages 1st grade thru 4th grade. The school uses those snow pants for kids in need, and when students forget theirs.
The James Kennedy Public library has many different events and programs all winter long for all ages, including their Friday afternoon games like, cards, dominoes and more. Feel free to bring your own games too, while socializing with friends. This is held every Friday from 1-3:30pm. Another movie at the library will be Saturday, January 11th showing Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Rated PG-13, beginning at 1pm. The James Kennedy Public Library welcomes all older adults older to take part in strength training during the winter season. This strength training and exercise program is made possible by a partnership between the Geri-Fit Company and the JKPL. Participants will exercise to a Geri-Fit DVD, and most of the strength exercises are performed seated in a chair, and there is no dancing or aerobics involved. Classes are held on Monday's and Thursday's and last approximately 45 minutes. Each participant will need a set of 2 or 3 pound dumbbell weights, a medium weight stretch band, and water to drink. Registration is required by contacting the James Kennedy Public Library at 875-8912, also at their website dyersville.lib.ia.us, or on Facebook. And of course the annual soup and chili lunch and dinner fundraiser at the library. This will be held Monday, January 13th. Lunch will be available from 11:30am-1pm, and dinner from 4:30-6:30pm, or until they run out. Cost is $7 for a meal, or $5 for a bowl of soup or chili only. Quarts of soup will be available for $10 each. Limited seating will be available, otherwise feel free to call ahead to have your order ready for pickup. Proceeds from the soup and chili fundraiser will be used to support library programs, services, and collections.

American Legion Post 45 in Manchester presents their annual Snowball Dinner and Dance on Saturday, January 11th at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Manchester. Social hour will be from 4-5pm, with dinner served from 5-6:30pm, featuring smoked pork loin and chicken cordon bleu with all the fixins. Following dinner, enjoy great music with Darrell, Jacque, and Connie from 7-10pm, plus a pie auction that night too. Tickets are available for $25, and only 200 pre paid tickets will be sold! Tickets can be purchased at American Legion Post 45 in Manchester, or by contacting 927-3271, or Warren at 920-0950, or Joe at 920-4456. All proceeds will benefit American Legion sponsored programs.
