A Cascade residence was heavily damaged after a fire Friday (this) morning. Just after 8:15, the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department long with Cascade, Bernard and Monticello Fire Departments responded to 114 3rd Avenue South West in Cascade for a residential structure fire. The fire was contained to the rear of the residence and was extinguished. The home was occupied at the time of the fire, but the occupants were able to escape out of the front door. No injuries were reported. The residence is considered to be a total loss, with an estimated damage of $167,000. The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family. Authorities say the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
