Burn Ban in Effect for Dubuque County

A ban on open burning in Dubuque County went into effect Monday. The ban was ordered by Iowa State Fire Marshal Dan Wood in a proclamation that states that conditions “are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property.” A Dubuque County Emergency Management press release states that fire departments in the county have seen an increase in brush, field and grass fires over the past two weeks. The ban does not include using outdoor fireplaces or barbecue grills or burning trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, masonry or concrete with openings no greater than 1 square inch. The ban will be lifted when fire danger subsides. Jones and Jackson counties also are under burn bans.
