Bird Concedes Iowa Attorney General Race to Willems

Republican incumbent Brenna Bird has conceded the Iowa Attorney General race to Democrat Nate Willems. The race had not been called as of Wednesday morning, but Willems led the vote by a slim majority with 97% of the votes in. Bird was the first Republican to hold this office since 1979, defeating longtime Democrat Tom Miller in 2022 who had served 40 years in the position. Willems is a former state representative, representing the 29th district from 2009 to 2013. He currently works as a labor lawyer out of a Cedar Rapids-based law firm.
