Bid Accepted for Paving of Section of Heritage Trail

A bid has been accepted for the paving of a section of Heritage trail. The Telegraph Herald reports the Dubuque County Conservation Board chose a bid from engineering firm WHKS at a meeting earlier this week. The selected bid is for $81,630. The project — a collaboration between Dubuque County and the city of Dyersville — will pave a 2-mile segment of the trail in concrete, enabled by a $500,000 federal grant. The paved section will stretch from the Dyersville Trail Head to Prier Road, potentially extending to Holy Cross Road. According to the bid, the projected start date for construction on the trail is August 3rd, 2026, and completion is projected for the end of November 2026. The current budget for the project is $600,000. Funding is primarily coming from the FHA grant, which requires a $125,000 local match split between Dubuque County Conservation and the city of Dyersville.
