Asbury City Council to Vote on Ordinance to Allow ATVs/UTVs on City Roads

The Asbury City Council is set to vote tonight on an ordinance that would allow all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task vehicles (UTVs) on city roads, a proposal the council previously rejected in 2023. Under the updated proposal, drivers would need to be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license and carry insurance. Vehicles would be limited to 35 mph and must have working brakes, headlights, taillights and side mirrors. Operation would be permitted only between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. The ordinance is modeled after a 2022 Iowa law that opened county and state roads to off-road vehicles.
