Linn County Seeking Residents for Committee to Shape Rules for Large-Scale Data Centers

Linn County is looking for residents to join a volunteer committee that will help shape future rules for large-scale data centers. The Data Center Advisory Committee is part of the county's work during an 18-month pause on new data center projects in unincorporated areas. The moratorium, which started July 1, gives officials time to review whether current zoning rules can handle issues tied to data center growth, including impacts on water, electricity, emergency services, roads and long-term land use planning. Applications are available on the Linn County website at LinnCountyIowa.gov or by calling the Board of Supervisors office at 319-892-5000. Applicants must live in Linn County. The deadline to apply is Oct. 19.
