Ethics Complaint Against Dubuque County State Representative Dropped

An ethics complaint against a Dubuque County state representative has been dropped, but may be reviewed by another ethics body. The Telegraph Herald reports the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board has dismissed a complaint against Dubuque County state representative Shannon Lundgren in regards to her submission of a letter in support of a convicted child sex offender’s character prior to his sentencing. The complaint accused Lundgren of violating a provision of Iowa Code classifying a public official’s knowing misuse of public funds or resources as a serious misdemeanor. The board ruled it doesn’t have jurisdiction over that part of the code or have jurisdiction over a sitting member of the House of Representatives and that the complaint would best directed to the General Assembly’s ethics body.
