The city of Peosta released survey results showing nearly 90% of residents who responded do not support data center development in the city. KWWL reports the survey ran from July 22 to August 28 and received 470 responses, including 291 from city residents. Of those residents, 254 said no to data centers, representing 87.3% of respondents. The city has been holding ongoing discussions with residents about data centers and is using the survey results as officials continue work on new regulations. When asked about benefits, nearly 59% of Peosta residents said they saw no benefit at all. Creating property tax revenue was the highest benefit among listed options. City officials are now using the survey results as they develop new regulations for data centers. The city has added monthly work sessions dedicated to data centers. The next meeting is scheduled for September 16, where officials will discuss the survey results. Before then, the council will not be discussing the survey or data centers. A moratorium on data center development remains in place until December 20 of 2026.
