Rider Seriously Injured when Their Motorcycle Struck a Deer Sunday near Prairieburg

One person was seriously injured when their motorcycle struck a deer Sunday afternoon near Prairieburg. A news release from the Linn County Sheriff's office says deputies and emergency crews responded to the area of Prairieburg Road and Maxwell Road just after 2:50 PM, for a motorcycle accident with serious injury. The release states that witnesses came across an injured woman laying in the road. The sheriff's office says that a lone female was operating a motorcycle traveling north on Prairieburg Road, south of Maxwell Road, when she struck a deer. The rider was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision. The rider was flown by AirCare Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The identity of the rider is being withheld pending notification family. Prairieburg road was closed for about an hour.
