Authorities Release Names of Those Involved in Deadly Crash Near Earlville

Authorities have released the names of those involved in an accident in which one person was killed and two others were injured early Saturday after a vehicle struck two vehicles parked along Highway 20 near Earlville. The crash happened just after 2 a.m., on eastbound Highway 20 near mile marker 286. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 21-year-old Sophia Gorton of LaMotte was traveling east and struck a Toyota Prius and a Honda CR-V that were parked on the shoulder. Gorton also struck the driver of the CR-V, identified as 24-year-old Isaac Gill of Dubuque, who was outside the vehicle at the time. Gill was pronounced dead at the scene. Two Iowa City residents in the Prius, 20-year-old Ahmed Ismail and 32-year-old Ada Alvira, were injured and taken by Earlville Fire/EMS to Regional Medical Center. The Iowa State Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
