An at-large member of the Manchester City Council has resigned. Bryan Gray cited health reasons when he announced his resignation at the council’s meeting this week. Gray made the announcement at the end of the meeting, during the council’s comment period. Gray joined the council after he defeated then-incumbent Tania Bradley in 2023. His four-year term runs through 2027, the next city election. Gray’s resignation leaves a council vacancy that can be filled in two ways. A vacancy can be filled by appointment until the next regular city election or by a special election. If a vacancy is filled by appointment, a petition can be submitted requiring the seat be filled by special election. The council could discuss how to fill the seat at its next meeting, scheduled for Aug. 10.
