Earlville Man Arrested after Leading Anamosa Police on High-Speed Chase

An Earlville man was arrested after leading Anamosa police on a high-speed chase that ended with the vehicle entering a Jones County bean field. According to court records, the afternoon of July 8th, officers attempted to locate a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Alexander Brenner of Earlville, that was possibly involved in a disturbance in the Cedar Rapids area. At bout 2:20 PM, an officer located the vehicle entering Anamosa from U.S. 151. Brenner sped away from an attempted traffic stop and nearly struck a person on a riding lawnmower. Brenner failed to stop at a red light and was traveling in excess of 72 mph on an Anamosa city street. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and entered a bean field, causing approximately $7,200 in damage.
