Peosta City Leaders to Discuss Data Center Ordinance

Peosta city leaders are working on a data center ordinance after a developer informally approached the city about building one. KWWL reports the city council held its first discussion on a possible data center ordinance during a work session last week. After about five minutes of discussion, leaders decided they needed more research and information before moving forward. City officials say they want to proactively gather information and learn what they need to make decisions about the city's future. The council asked city staff to begin researching ordinances and issues so they could become informed and prepared if they ever receive a formal request. Dubuque County voted to approve a 12-month moratorium on data centers in the county's jurisdiction on May 26 after a lengthy discussion between the board and residents. The council will discuss the issue over the following months.
