Driver Airlifted after a Two-Vehicle Accident near Central City

A driver was airlifted with serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Central City Wednesday. According to a press release, at about 2:00 PM, Linn County Sheriff Deputies, and emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 13 and Burnett Station Road, South of Central City, for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. The report states that a 2019 Toyota Camry, driven by Lois Schantz, failed to yield while trying to turn onto Burnett Station Road from Highway 13. Her vehicle was struck by a southbound 2021 Kentworth semi tractor, driven by Brandon Ries. The collision of the two vehicles caused the Toyota Camry to enter the west ditch south of the intersection. Schantz was transported by Lifeguard Ambulance for serious, life-threatening injuries. Ries was not injured in the crash. The accident is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
