Illinois Couple Arrested after Stealing Catalytic Converter from Vehicle in Manchester

A couple from Savanna Illinois were arrested after allegedly stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle in Manchester. Online court documents say 36-year-old Chelsey Schmidt and 50-year-old Jeffrey Schmidt, were arrested for third-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief. The two were spotted taking the part off a vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot a little after midnight Tuesday morning. The two left in an SUV and were later arrested after a traffic stop with a catalytic converter in their vehicle. Police estimate the value to be around $750 - $1,500. Manchester police stated in a social media post "Bonnie and Clydes are not welcome in Manchester. Our officers and deputies responded swiftly and effectively to void any other thefts from the less than dynamic duo photographed below."
