Drivers taking U.S. 20 into Peosta will soon see safety improvements at one of the city's intersections. The Telegraph Herald reports the city and the Iowa Department of Transportation are partnering to construct an offsetting right-turn deceleration lane this year at the access to Cox Springs Road from westbound U.S. 20. The council’s move comes about four months after the DOT released a feasibility study of potential improvements to the stretch of U.S. 20 between the Sundown Road and Swiss Valley Road interchanges. The study outlined three options for improving the two Peosta intersections, all of which involve closing the Cox Springs Road intersection and adding new local roads. The potential construction of an interchange would not occur for at least a decade.
