The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado in Dubuque County from storms Tuesday evening. Officials said the tornado developed near the Dubuque airport on the far south side of town around 6:30 p.m. The preliminary survey from a damage survey team found the tornado had a path of about 3.5 miles, with maximum winds near 105 mph. The weather service says the information will be added soon to its public damage assessment toolkit. The update comes after the National Weather Service previously confirmed an EF1 tornado in eastern Buchanan County that tracked into western Delaware County during the same round of storms. That tornado also had estimated peak winds of about 105 mph. There was also a tornado around 6:30 p.m. in Onslow. The top wind speeds were not measured so it does not have an EF rating. The storm’s path showed it traveled 2.6 miles in five minutes.
