The Archdiocese of Dubuque will announce new pastorates and priest assignments Saturday. Archbishop Thomas Zinkula announced plans to consolidate parishes last year, citing falling attendance in the Catholic church and limited resources to serve the archdiocese’s 160 parishes across 30 counties. Zinkula says the formation of pastorates will allow parishes to effectively share “human and material resources, develop new relationships, and transform our communities to become more like Jesus Christ in thought, word, and deed.” The changes are set to take effect in July.
