Guttenberg Man Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash Friday

A Guttenberg man was injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening. According to a press release at about 7:10 p.m., the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle partially submerged in Miners Creek along U.S. Highway 52, south of Guttenberg. The report states a black 2019 Chevy Silverado driven by 58-year-old Douglas Pierce of Guttenberg was traveling northbound on Highway 52 when he lost control. Pierce entered the west ditch and continued into Miners Creek, where his vehicle became partially submerged. Pierce, who was the sole occupant, was unable to exit the vehicle and had to be extricated using mechanical means. Pierce was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
