Crash and Diesel Spill Closes Busy Dubuque Intersection

A crash and large diesel spill led to the closure of a busy Dubuque intersection early Tuesday morning. A press release states that Dubuque Police, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department and the Dubuque Fire Department responded to the intersection of Dodge Street and the Northwest Arterial at about 5 a.m. for a crash with injuries involving a semi-tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle. According to the release, the crash damaged the driver’s side saddle tank of the semi, which released the entire contents of diesel in the tank onto the intersection. The semi driver and occupants of the passenger vehicle reported minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The intersection reopened around 8:45 a.m..
