The NCAA Basketball Tournament brackets were announced Sunday. In the men’s First Four games on Tuesday, Texas will play North Carolina State to determine the #11 seed in the West Region, while Howard will face UMBC with that winner becoming the 16th seed in the Midwest. The other First Four games are Wednesday – Miami of Ohio battles SMU for the 11th seed in the Midwest, and Lehigh plays Prairie View for the right become the 16th seed in the South. The top seeds are Duke in the East, Arizona in the West, Michigan in the Midwest Region, and Florida in the South. Iowa State earned the #2 seed in the Midwest and will play Tennessee State in the first round, Iowa is 9th in the South and face Clemson, and MVC tournament champ Northern Iowa, which is the 12th seed in East, will face St. Johns. All three of those games are on Friday. The women’s First Four games are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, Nebraska plays Richmond, with that winner becoming the 11th seed in Regional 2, and Missouri State faces SF Austin as they battle for the 16th seed in Regional 4. Women’s First Four games on Thursday are Southern vs Samford for #16 in Regional 4, and Arizona State plays Virginia to determine which school will thee #10 in Regional 4. Iowa was awarded with the #2 seed in Regional 4 and plays Fairleigh Dickson in the first round, and the Iowa State women plays Syracuse in the 8-9 matchup for Regional 1. Both games are on Saturday. The #1 seeds are UConn, UCLA, Texas and South Carolina.
