Three people, including a couple from New Vienna, were sent to the hospital after a head on collision in Delaware County early Friday. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office reports that just after Midnight Friday morning, a vehicle heading South on Highway 13, driven by 35-year-old Daouda Balde of Iowa City lost control on slick roads and crossed the center line. Balde's Toyota Camry then struck a northbound Honda CRV driven by 71-year-old Dale Ries head on. Ries' Passenger, 71-year-old Karen Ries suffered serious injuries. The release states that all three people involved in the accident were transported to Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident. Balde was charged with failure to maintain control.
