An Onslow man is facing multiple charges following a stolen car chase Tuesday night. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy located a suspicious SUV on T Avenue in Oelwein after receiving a call around 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Office said the deputy tried to stop the vehicle when it sped away. The Sheriff’s Office looked up the license plate of the silver Chevy Captiva and learned that it was stolen. Authorities pursued the vehicle for 20 miles, with the car speeding over 90 miles per hour. The car got stuck in the snow outside a home in West Union, and the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Jacob Ahlrichs, ran away. The deputy chased Ahlrichs and tased him after he failed to listen to commands. The West Union Police Department assisted with the arrest. Ahlrichs is being held in the Fayette County Jail on felony charges of Eluding - Speed 25+ Over Limit, and 2nd-Degree Theft. He is also charged with reckless driving and interference with official acts. Officials say more charges are pending as investigation continues.
