The investigation into a Dyersville homicide has been suspended after 40 years. The Dubuque County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, and the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office announced they are suspending an investigation into a 1984 homicide in Dyersville. Investigators said they received new information on the case in 2023. The agencies say the person whom they believe killed Charles Jaeger in his home over 40 years ago is already serving two life sentences in another state. They are not releasing the suspect’s identity or motive in case they decide to prosecute the individual in the future.
