A Lowden woman was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon along Highway 30, between Clarence and Lowden. According to the Iowa State Patrol, an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu driven by 59-year-old Loretta Frana of Lowden was slowing to turn left onto Taylor Avenue. That’s when a semi-truck, driven by 27-year-old Adam Wiese struck it from the rear. The car came to rest in the ditch. The truck came to a stop on the highway’s eastbound shoulder. Frana was pronounced dead at the scene. Wiese was not injured.
